Putting Down Roots is a gardening project for people who are currently homeless or have been in the past, or who are at risk of becoming homeless.
They work in hostel grounds, public parks and on their own allotment, (shown in this film) developing gardening skills, growing organic vegetables and carrying out hard landscaping and building projects.
This film features Gary Harding who talks about his past and what the garden now means to him.
Thanks to Gary Harding, Ian Kavanagh, Gerard Davis, Brian Horne, Eugene Rossi, Fiona Finn and Martin Snowdon for giving us permission to film.

Make Something from Nothing, the first of a series of cultural projects called ‘Make with a Red Stripe’, features a unique sound sculpture created by sound artist Yuri Suzuki, in collaboration with DJ Al Fingers, singer/songwriter Gappy Ranks and designer Matthew Kneebone.
The 2.5 metre high, fully functioning sound sculpture is made using thousands of recycled Red Stripe beer cans partly collected at this year’s Notting Hill carnival. The project celebrates the DIY culture of the brand’s Jamaican roots, with Reggae, Dub and Jamaican music influences as well.
Client BBH / Barnardos
A campaign film about the new Barnardo’s TV advert which tells the story of Michael, a vulnerable child who has turned his life around with the support of Barnardo’s.
Telling a life story backwards, working with five different actors, was an interesting challenge for the team who worked on the advert. In this short film they talk about where the idea came from and the experience of making the advert for Barnardo’s.
